Focused Skill Development

Overview

This programme is designed to provide skill development in key technology areas. The scope of skill development includes all aspects of the area of engineering - concepts, components, applications, design and development, and project life-cycle. This programme caters to students and graduates, faculty, as well as employees who are looking to learn specific technologies.

Programme Highlights

  • Only on weekends: Currently, this programme is being run only on Saturdays and Sundays. This makes it very convenient for students, graduates, faculty and employees to attend.
  • Small batch sizes: We accommodate only up to 10 students per batch. This is to ensure that quality of knowledge transfer is not compromised.
  • Dedicated equipment and space: To ensure no distractions are present, all the required equipment is available in a dedicated space. The FSDP space has all the equipment necessary to perform the exercises.
  • In-depth coverage: All aspects of the topics being covered are addressed in depth. This includes concepts and principles, design, fabrication, and applications.
  • 95+% hands-on time: Most of the skill acquisition happens through hands-on activities.
  • Cumulative Skill Development: The skills are taught in a cumulative order i.e., skills previously acquired are applied to acquire subsequent skills.
  • 200+ exercises: More exercises means more opportunities to apply the skills and master them. In each exercise, a specific skill or knowledge item is in focus.
  • Duration: The duration of each course will depend on the complexity of the particular topic and the speed at which the participants acquire the skills.
  • Additional Skill Development: If an individual student needs special attention, additional independent sessions will be arranged, assignments given, as and when required.
  • Assignments: Students are given assignments to complete between sessions, to master the acquired skills and maintain continuity. This will also provide a way to revise the topic at a later day, such as on the eve of an interview or exam.
  • Discussions: In each session, there will be a group discussion to identify the take-aways for the day, and mutual exchange of ideas.
  • Work based Assessments: Student performance is assessed throughout the programme. To ensure no time is wasted in preparation for these assessments, the assessments are based on the work being done.
  • Certification: Students are certified based on their performance during the course. There no oral/written tests or quizzes to prepare for.
  • Post-Certification Support: We stand by our alumni all through their career. If a student already certified by us needs any technical clarification in future, we offer technical guidance in the area.

Areas of Skill Development

Each of these areas is a multi-level programme. The levels are number 1 to N. Each level builds on what was covered in the earlier levels. The duration of each level varies.

 

  • FSD2018010-14: Embedded Application Design
  • FSD2018020-24: Automation Components (Sensors and Actuators)
  • FSD2018030-34: PLC Systems and Applications
  • FSD2018040-42: SCADA Systems and Applications
  • FSD2018050-053: Robotics Systems and Applications
  • FSD2018110: Product Design and Development
  • FSD2018120: Solution Development and Provisioning
  • FSD2018130: Soft-Skills

These are the areas under which we run FSDPs now. If you are interested in any other area such as VLSI, IoT, CAD etc., kindly contact us and request. We might be able to accommodate your request as a special case.

What to expect when you approach us?

  1. A student interested in skill development in a particular area will have a counselling session with our experienced advisors.
  2. During the session, our advisors discuss the details of each course - topics, duration, prospective industries for employment, and career opportunities (employment and entrepreneurship).
  3. The student takes an educated decision on the course that aligns with his/her career goals, and enrolls for the next batch.
  4. If multiple students approach us together, we may be able to accommodate all in one batch. This makes it easier and mutually beneficial for all participants.
